Volvo Key Fob Troubleshooting
Volvo drivers enjoy their key fob's useful remote features. Utilizing a smartphone app, they can lock and unlock the car or start the engine and even locate the vehicle.
Place the key fob's face up on an uncluttered surface. Find the button that will release it. Put a coin between the fob cover and the fob, then carefully pull up.
Unlocking the Doors
Volvo's remote keyfobs allow you to unlock your vehicle's tailgate, doors and flaps for filling with fuel with the push of one button. Remote key fobs can also turn on the ignition and activate the alarm. They can also operate the sunroof, when it's equipped. With these options you'll never need to look for your keys or even lock yourself out of your car.
You may not know about certain key fob features that are not visible. One of these is an unlocked/lock button that you can press in case the battery in your key fob dies.
The key fob should be held with the Volvo logo facing up to press the manual lock/unlock. Locate the black button that is on the outside of the body of your key fob and gently press it to open a cover that houses a manual key blade. This cover can be flipped counterclockwise by using a flathead or coin.

The Engine is Ready to Start
Modern Volvo key fobs provide an unbeatable level of convenience and functionality unmatched by traditional manual keys. However, just like any battery-powered electronic device key fobs may be depleted of its charge or cease functioning over time. If you notice that your key fob becomes less responsive when you hit the lock or unlock button, it could be time to replace the battery.
You can enable this feature with the key fob if the vehicle is equipped with a dealer-installed Engine Remote Start. The car will be heated or cooled at the same temperature that it was set to when it was parked, and last for up to 15 minutes.
Utilizing a fingernail to carefully remove the cover from the back of the key fob. Under the cover on a diagonal, close to the body's edge, you will find an unidentified button. Slide it to the right. The cover will break loose and slide off to reveal the manual blade! If you are still unable to locate the button, you can search the newly revealed manual key access to find if there is a hidden slot or lever.
Closing the Windows
One of the nefarious features on Volvo key fobs is that you can roll down all of the windows at once when you use the fobs. This is a great feature when trying to squeeze into a cramped parking space, or simply when you want to get some fresh air inside the cabin while driving.
Press and hold the unlock button on your Volvo remote control for four seconds. This will lower all the windows, and also the sunroof, if your car comes with one. After you've finished using the vehicle, you can close all the windows by pressing the lock button again for four seconds.
You can also activate the panic alarm inside your car using the key fob. It will sound an alarm that is loud and attention-grabbing which can deter thieves and allow you to return home at a safe distance after a night out. This feature is useful should you reside in a hazardous area or wish to ensure the safety of your family while away from home.

Volvo's key fob comes with many useful features. They are great if you have your hands full with shopping, or helping your children take their sports gear home after a session.
If you own the Hands-Free Liftgate with Logo Projection and Programmable Height (if equipped) Then you can open it with the key fob. You can open the liftgate by pressing the button, and then close it using the same button.
When you're in the mood to start your car, use the key fob to press the START button (and don't be concerned about your battery going out or your car not starting because it has a backup mechanical key slot as well). This is only one of the many tricks you can use for your brand new Volvo.

Turning off the Alarm
Modern key fobs provide a lot of convenience over a conventional mechanical car key. However, they don't work perfectly for long, and their batteries eventually go out of service. You can try programming your key fob at home if you are in a rush or don't have time to visit the store.
Find a smooth surface and lay out your key fob, battery, and any other keys. Find the small black button in the lower left corner of the key fob, then slide it to the right. The cover will fall off and reveal the key blade that is mechanical beneath.
You can open all doors as well as the reargate by pressing the unlock button on the key fob two times. By pressing the lock button for two seconds, you will be able to close the windows and shut the sunroof when they're fitted. Reconnect the battery, and the alarm should cease. If it doesn't, then the owner's manual should provide a way to reset the alarm.
